BOOK
Marco Roque de Freitas has released the book 'A Construção Sonora de Moçambique 1974-1994,' making it available for the first time in Portugal.
The first edition of this book was launched in Maputo, Mozambique, in December 2020, driven by the author's ethical commitment to the individuals portrayed within its pages. This present edition has undergone a thorough revision and enhancement, including corrections and clarifications gleaned from public presentations at various scientific events, along with insights from recently published peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. The book delves into a diverse array of subjects, including musical categorization, phonographic and radio production systems, prevalent musical repertoires and groups, the social standing of musicians, the role of women artists in Mozambican society, the challenges posed by musical production in a wartime context, Mozambique's first experiences within the "World Music" market, and the interplay between distinct sonorous representations and political contexts.and political-social contexts. |
